Add an Ocassion

An occasion is more or less opportunity for doing something, or obligation to do something, that is relative to an individual person or group of persons and most often culturally influenced. Occasions are often named as reasons for doing something, with little or no other reasons needing to be given. Some occasions are taken for granted, as a matter of course, while others are invested with a great deal of explanation, justification and proscribed behavior.

Occasions can be as everyday as a cigarette or coffee break, simply being at work, or going to bed, or they can be more special as in celebrating a holiday, getting married, a vacation, a parade, a trial, a wake, and so on.

A Wednesday night card game could be just as much of an occasion for doing something as a holiday, a wedding, a time of day, a meeting, a phone call, or an emergency situation.

Occasions are most often not causes in any strong sense, but rather opportunities or situations in which some things might occur, and many things need to occur. On many occasions, specific behaviors are proscribed for certain persons and groups of persons.
